Blackpool's Most Romantic Places

Although you might associate Blackpool with fun and excitement more than romance, it is also very much a town for lovers. From timeless landmarks to seaside locations that stir the heart strings, it is a wonderful place for couples. Still don’t believe us? Just to share the love, we have some amazing Valentine's Day Offers currently available. But if you needed any further encouragement, here is our shortlist of locations to prove that romance is alive and kicking on the northwest coast:

Blackpool Tower: This legendary part of the Blackpool skyline is a timelessly charming place to visit with the one you love. Ok, so it isn’t the Eiffel Tower, but we think it’s far more original. The view alone could leave you breathless, before you’ve even think about stealing a kiss. It is also something of a legendary place to propose, forming an iconic backdrop for the big question. For even more dramatic effect you could even follow the proposal of Sharon Fuller, who wrote her proposal in giant letters on the beach to give her chap a big surprise (see BBC news story).

The Winter Gardens : With grand elegance and more than a hint of nostsalgia across several venues, what could be more romantic than sharing a night of stirring theatre or music with your special one? Classic venues such as the Opera House have hosted greats such as Frank Sinatra, Tom Jones, and Shirley Bassey, while there are few places to take your partner by the hand than the glittering Empress Ballroom. Blackpool Pleasure Beach: Ok, so this choice might depend on your idea of romance, but for the fun-loving and young at heart, the Pleasure Beach is a great place to get close to someone. Couples certainly tend to cling tight together on the “Big One” Rollercoaster, which was the tallest and steepest in the world on completion in 1994. For a more relaxed romance (or those who recently ate dinner),the stunning views from top of the Big Wheel are even better shared by two. Add in the Blackpool Illuminations on an autumn night and it gets even more special.

The White Tower Restaurant: Do you believe the best way to someone’s heart is through their stomach? Widely renowned as Blackpool’s most romantic eatery, this imposing building is famous for great views and a top notch fine dining experience. It isn’t the cheapest (typically £52 for two Valentines diners), but for ambience and fine locally-sourced food it tends to win taste buds as well as hearts.whitetowerrestaurant.com

Have a Ball: Passion, excitement and action are all key to a tasty romance. And you’ll find all these elements at the mighty Blackpool FC. Are we having a laugh? Absolutely not; provided your other half is a football fan there is no greater feeling than sharing the thrills, spills and elation of a game together. Some dedicated football fans even get hitched at the ground, as was the case with visitors Charlotte Davis and Nigel Crook (Read the Daily Echo story).
